12 month old who won't eat.

I hope you can help me here.
My son just turned 12months on the 15th of March. He really hasn't been a very good eater since starting him on solids at 6 months.
He has a hard time with coarse and textured foods and it seems that if anything too large gets in his mouth it gets caught in his throat and then he vomits everything. This happens ALOT...
I have had to just continue him on the baby food jars...tonight I pureed carrots, mashed potatoes and a little piece of fish...he hardly ate anything.

Any Suggestion?
